These homemade birria tacos are packed with flavor and are easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 dried guajillo chiles
  • 2 dried ancho chiles
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 corn tortillas
  • 1 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine beef chuck with beef broth, guajillo chiles, ancho chiles, onion, garlic, cumin, oregano, and black pepper.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours until beef is tender. Shred beef with two forks.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and warm tortillas.
  4. Fill each tortilla with shredded beef and top with cilantro and squeeze of lime.
  5. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef overnight.
  • Serve with consome for dipping.
